About Us

NRPCES — New Replacement Policy Considering Environmental Sustainability — is a European research project. It builds a digital decision-support system that helps owners choose when to repair, refurbish, or replace industrial and railway equipment, with live CO₂ monitoring included.

Assets in these sectors often run for decades. Keeping them too long raises cost and emissions; replacing them too early wastes capital and materials. NRPCES brings operating cost, condition, and carbon into one view so that choice is based on evidence.

Partners in Sweden, Belgium, and Portugal test the methods on five use cases — from production machinery to railway networks — so the platform can serve both SMEs and large operators, and sit alongside EU climate policy.
